Peruvian Woven Scarf
I love the woven stitch used in this pattern and have wanted to make a scarf using it, but it usually makes a dense, stiff fabric which is not good for a scarf. So I tried using a light weight yarn with a bigger needle and it worked. So you can have the look of a woven scarf that is still soft and flexible. This is a stitch is not hard to catch on to and is used for the whole scarf and the pattern uses only one skein of yarn. A variegated sock yarn looks very good in this stitch, but a solid color looks lovely also. Or if you have left over sock yarn in your stash you could stripe the scarf. If you switch yarns go up about four or five needle sizes from the recommended size for that yarn.
Materials:
Yarn: Paca-peds Superwash Alpaca Sock Yarn.
20% Superfine Alpaca, 65% Superwash Wool & 15% Nylon. 360 yds/100g(3.5 oz.). Color #604 Fireside.
Needles: Size 7/4.5mm needles, Size F crochet hook(for fringe).
Gauge: 6 1/2 st & 10 1/2 rows per inch in Woven st.
Finished size: 6 inches wide & 60 inches long without fringe.
